After watching the Seahawks dominate the Super Bowl, one question keeps coming up: how far behind are the Houston Texans from reaching the ultimate pinnacle?
This isn’t a panic episode. And it’s definitely not a DeMeco Ryans hit piece.
DeMeco Ryans’ way can absolutely win Houston a championship. There’s no mystery there. Seattle’s defense isn’t doing anything Houston can’t do. The real difference is how the Seahawks built — and committed to — their offense.
Under Klint Kubiak, Seattle had a plan. They drafted for it. They staffed it. And they stuck to it.
That’s where the gap shows up.
John Schneider found five starting offensive linemen through the draft. Seattle took Charles Cross in the first round, Kenneth Walker in the second, and Abraham Lucas in the third — resulting in 313 rushing yards, four touchdowns, and just six combined pressures allowed by their tackles on the biggest stage.
Now compare that to Houston.
The Texans hit home runs with C.J. Stroud and Will Anderson Jr., but the offensive line remains a revolving door. Juice Scruggs and Kenyon Green haven’t stabilized the unit. Tank Dell has played just 25 games in three seasons. The foundation up front simply hasn’t been cultivated.
That’s on Nick Caserio.
So the real questions are:
Has Caserio done enough to support DeMeco’s vision?
Have DeMeco Ryans and Nick Caserio truly been aligned this whole time?
And can they finally move forward in unison during this championship window?
The Texans are not out of it.
But Caserio has to be better — starting now.
