The Tennessee Titans finally cut cornerback L’Jarius Sneed on Friday in a move many fans have been waiting on. It will save the team nearly $12 million in additional salary cap space and will leave behind $8 million in dead cap. Regardless of the finances, as the Titans move to a new system and a new era, it was best to leave Sneed in the dust as one of the worst acquisitions in franchise history. While the Titans while gain cap space from the Sneed cut, they also got a mysterious $20 million in additional cap relief due to a supposed insurance policy that were able to make claim on. Apparently, this is a function of the CBA and has been something that is in place for quite some time. The Titans allegedly will benefit from the injury absences of Sneed and Calvin Ridley, adding to their robust cap situation. Finally, the Titans could create more cap space from a Ridley cut, along with cuts of Tony Pollard and Cody Barton, but these are becoming less likely by the day as the Titans have not added any depth at those spots at this time.
