Just hours after filling their vacancy at offensive coordinator, the New England Patriots have hired former Detroit Lions defensive line coach and run game coordinator Terrell Williams as their new defenisve coordiantor under head coach Mike Vrabel. Williams arrives in New England with a great deal of familiarity with Vrabel’s coaching style, as the two worked together with the Tennessee Titans when williams served as Vrabel’s defenisve line coach and his assistant head coach in 2023. In his only season with the Lions, he coached the fourth-best defense in the league when it came to run success rate at 36.1 percent. As such, his presence should help to resurrect a Patriots run game which had fallen far and fast in 2024. Combined with his agressive, physical approach to front-seven pressure, Williams has the experience to have the Pats defense sh aalaowing marked improvement in 2025.
