Daily DLP: Eric Edholm Breaks Down Lions Draft and Offseason | Detroit Lions Podcast

The Daily DLP from the Detroit Lions Podcast welcomes longtime NFL analyst and reporter Eric Edholm to the show. Edholm now works for NFL Media and NFL.com, and he’s written a couple of recent articles that should make Lions fans feel pretty darn good about the team’s chances to win in 2026.

Edholm starts by reviewing the Lions draft class, notably Blake Miller as a “safe” choice in the first round. The entire draft class feels pretty safe, and that just might be exactly what the Lions need from their rookies. Keith Abney, as is the case with every Daily DLP guest we’ve had, earns a ton of love.

As a Missouri grad, Edholm offers some insight into oft-injured Lions CB Ennis Rakestraw. What was he like in college and is there still hope for him in Detroit? That plays into the discussion about the overall strength of the Lions roster.

Edholm ranked the Lions sixth in his recent tabulation of the top 10 rosters in the league. Detroit has a great cadre of high-end players and has raised the floor with some offseason moves like adding DJ Wonnum, Christian Izien and Greg Dortch.

Finally, Ben Johnson was named one of the “losers” of the recent NFL schedule release, thanks to some scheduling quirks that won’t make things easy for the Chicago Bears head coach. Who else made the list? Hint: they’re all on the Lions schedule in 2026.
