The Daily DLP for May 12th goes over several developing situations in Lions land.

Detroit’s rookies are now in Allen Park, and a few have signed their rookie contracts. That includes second-round EDGE Derrick Moore, and his deal is significant. Moore and the Lions agreed to a fully guaranteed 4-year contract, making the Michigan LB the lowest-ever draft pick to sign a fully guaranteed first contract since the draft salary slotting began several years ago.

It seems Lions GM Brad Holmes was more than willing to move up higher in the Draft than he had to to land Moore at No. 44, too. The New York Giants behind-the-scenes Draft production revealed that the Lions offered three Day 3 picks to New York to move up and select Moore in the 30s. New York didn’t want to trade, and the Lions secured Moore with a smaller trade up from 50 to 44. The information shows that Holmes still gets a little crazy in parting with value for his guys in the Draft. Fortunately this one didn’t cost Detroit, as the picks offered became Jimmy Rolder and Keith Abney.

The NFL schedule is coming out later this week, but we already have some leaks. The Lions will play in Buffalo in Week 2 in the first Thursday night game of the 2026 NFL season. That’s a tough road trip with the Bills opening a new stadium as well, though coaching changes and some offensive question marks keep it a winnable game for Detroit.
