Tyler Shough could be the New Orleans Saints’ biggest weapon against the Detroit Lions. His elite intermediate passing and accuracy between the numbers line up perfectly against a Lions secondary that allowed the most targets and receptions from 10 to 19 yards last season. With Brian Branch and Kerby Joseph sidelined, Chris Olave, Juwan Johnson, Noah Fant, and Devaughn Vele will look to exploit Detroit’s vulnerable secondary.
Detroit’s offense brings its own challenge under new offensive coordinator Drew Petzig, who has favored multi-tight-end formations and man/gap scheme runs. Amon-Ra St. Brown’s slot production could create a major test for Jonas Sanker, while the Saints prepare for a more physical rushing attack. New Orleans is also changing its identity, with more snaps under center, multiple tight ends, and increased outside-zone concepts built around Travis Etienne Jr.
